Lost Wax and Casting Techniques

separator2

For people with knowledge of jewelry techniques with the aim of increasing his/her skills.

Description

Introduction to the casting process that goes from building a metal model, obtaining the mold and its reproduction. How to cast any organic object into metal, such as leaves, branches, shells, etc. Learn to make molds of plastic and metallic objects for their subsequent casting into metal.

Goals

Create pieces in bronze or silver using the lost wax technique on a small scale. Learn about the properties of metals, the most commonly used alloys, types of fluxes and purifiers, pickling and annealing processes, casting techniques and the use of different molds. Metal care and recovery.

Contents

Obtaining the vulcanized mold, wax injection, tree assembly, calculation of necessary metal weight, preparation of cylinder investment, casting and metal injection for subsequent finishing and polishing. Models are made in wax, in organic materials that carbonize well, or using plastic objects. This model will be the base for producing from a small number of pieces to a large quantity with the highest possible fidelity. Casting with Delft clay, cuttlefish bone, refractory investments and polyurethane modeling.
